The Apostolic Nunciature

An Apostolic Delegation was established by Pope Pius XI, by decree dated 7 December 1922, consisting of the Republic of South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana and Swaziland.

The Holy See and the Republic of South Africa agreed on 5 March 1994 to establish full diplomatic relations at the level of Apostolic Nunciature for the Holy See and Embassy for the Republic of South Africa.

The Apostolic Nuncio is
His Excellency the Most Reverend Archbishop Blasco Francisco Collaço

Nuncio to South Africa, Swaziland, Namibia and Lesotho, and
Apostolic Delegate to Botswana.
